Towards a Unified Vision?

The 15th Annual Workshop of The Workplace Network will be addressing major challenges of our field, both old and new. The carrying theme reflects the need for a synthesis of broader visions for the future and the need to reuse and utilise existing ideas, practices and real estate in innovative and productive ways. This includes studying the multifaceted aspects of sustainability of architecture, which will be addressed in our panel discussion during the conference. With fewer resources we have to be able to achieve more, as our customers demands increase over time. This leads us to emphasize topics like a move towards Distributed Work, Virtual Building Environment (VBE) and to reassess Contemporary Architecture and Design to deliver workplace solutions supportive of our customers’ business objectives. New workplace concepts, IT solutions and the transformation of work - are all very well, but a realistic vision for the future also has to encompass sustainability, efficiency and good design - is there a trade-off in this equation?

Our aim is to make TWN 2006 as interactive and informal as possible and we hope for active participation in all the discussions!
